Baby Bliss
Serious Baby Skills
Before having babies I thought six months was when babies REALLY got cute b/c they could basically sit on their own and they were quick to smile and even laugh. Now that I have my own babies I have concluded that EVERY month is adorable but four months is when the cuteness really starts to grow exponentially. They talk, have greater arm and hand control, they smile, they coo, and they KNOW their mom. Yay!

What up G?
Today as I was cleaning the kitchen, which again required the babies to hang out in their bouncy seats, I decided that chores should be done strictly when Asher and Soren are sleeping. I just hate to waste play and snuggle time with them to wash dishes or clean countertops.
Asher hung out in the Bjorn while I cleaned and that was fun.

A Rothko Birthday!
Residual holiday decorations--soo cute!
Birthday Cutes!
I realize this photo is totally blurry (but clearly I am not opposed to blurry photos on this blog) but flash photograhy was not allowed and I LOVED this Rothko print.
Baked eggplant for the moussaka.
A steaming pot of mushrooms and onions--just looking at this photo makes me gag.
Celebrating Jamie's birthday was a blast. We hung out with the babies in the morning then we left them with Chon and went straight to DC. The mall was our first destination--the Hirschhorn to be specific. Oh the joy of holding hands with my honey in our favorite museum. We saw a new Rothko and that was the thrill of the excursion for me.
After the museum we went to a Mexican tapas restaurant called Oyamel. I had high hopes for the place since I love Messican food but shoot, it was sadly disappointing. I felt like the service was pitiful and my tamale, although still delicious, was cold! That said, being with Jamie was blissful and it was exciting to be at a nice restaurant alone with him.
The lowlight of the birthday was watching the Spanish film, "The Orphanage." MISTAKE. As new parents, we were thoroughly tortured by the film. Sad.
Jamie requested a birthday dinner of recipes from the latest Saveur magazine. Mushroom and eggplant moussaka, cardamom lassis, and berry pie. Since I love Jamie tremendously I was able to set aside my abhorrence for mushrooms to make the moussaka and I must admit--it was super tasty and Jamie freaking loved it. He gushed over the meal and made me feel like a stellar wife and cook.
Celebrating Jamie's birthday is always fun and this year was special because of Asher and Soren.
Birthday Hubs!
Staunton, VA, birthplace of President Woodrow Wilson.

Jamie's birthday was on Monday, which was perfect because it was also a holiday. We had a fabulous celebration--post coming soon. Reflecting on the joys of past birthdays made me realize (I am always having this realization) just how LUCKY I am to have such a warm, loving, hilarious, and interesting husband/best friend. Life is always fun and amusing with Jamie and I am grateful for the daily support, compliments, and attention he gives me.
Knowing that last year would probably be the last time (in a long time) we would celebrate Jamie's birthday with just the two of us, I surprised him with a weekend trip to Staunton, VA. I packed his bag and presented him with a map of VA and told him we would be going someWHERE on the map (got the idea from Christian, the creative one, who did that for Nicole).
What fun we had! We stayed in a stinking cute hotel in the beautifully historic downtown. We saw Hamlet at the Blackfriars theater and best of all...it snowed on Jamie's birthday! Nothing like snow to remind us of Utah, where our relationship started.

Friday Baby Cutes
FOUR Months OLD
My baby babes are four months old...and compared to being a newborn preemie, they might as well be driving and preparing for SATs. They practially sit up, love to stand assisted, talk, coo, and are very vocal about when they are tired and ready for food. Feeding them takes all of ten minutes and I haven't been projectile vomited on in months. Good baby times!
