Fabulous Ft. Washington

Maeve is really into 'thumbs up' and I LOVE it.

Asher's head!

Jumping + thumbs up + kitty = explosive awesomeness.

My mom and Soren exploring the shore.

After breakfast at Wegmans we went to Ft. Washington for the perfect Saturday outing. We hadn't been in over a year and once again, I was rewarded with fabulous views and expansive good times. I knew my dad would love it and he did. We discovered new spooky corners and passage ways. Asher and Soren played non-stop and none of us really wanted to leave. Great family place if you can handle kids teetering near drop-offs, steep steps and water!

Chanticleer Part Three

This stiff looking turtle was for reals!

The kids LOVED playing near the pond and would have stayed forever it a crusty worker had not kept screaming at them to 'stay out of the water!' Way to ruin a moment dude.

Last summer Maeve had an enormous melt down by the pool. She refused the stroller and only wanted to be held and it was a million degrees and we were all exhausted. Nice that we ditched the stroller this time and no one had a melt down or explosion in their pants.

Ranunculus. My fave.

We watched G&G walk up the hill with Miss Maeve.

Impossible to get enough of this cutes.

The fullness of the blossoms was remarkable.

Mr. Major Cutes.

Snowing cherry blossoms!

As we were leaving the garden we were treated to a storm of falling blossoms. We chased them and tried to catch them and were joyful in our failure to contain them.

After our glorious afternoon at Chanticleer we went to Terrain and found various treasures. I wanted to also see Longwood but the kids did protest too much so we bagged it. We snagged lunch at what had to have been the most unpopulated Costco in the world. It was satisfying to shop, order food and eat in near isolation. Having had my soul sucked out by countless Pentagon City Costco trips, the quiet of an underutilized Costco was hugely satisfying.

PA is pretty awesome.

Chanticleer Part Two

Maeve and I discovered stone chairs and a couch just outside the ruins. I'm not sure how we missed those on the first visit but we both enjoyed that bit of whimsy. She had fun pushing the stone buttons on the rock remote. Asher and Soren had fun trailing behind grandma and grandpa. It was a happy place and a happy time. I could have stayed forever.

While the boys were posing on the high backed chairs, I told them that this was a special year because they would start kindergarten in the fall. I told them that I wanted it to be a special time, one full of happy experiences documented in detail. I'm grateful that this this curious year has already been filled with people we love.
