Tummy Time and the Start of the Sloahawk

Lady babes has been a champ about tummy time for ages. At about five months she started to roll and that interrupted her sleep for a while but eventually she just figured it out, as all babies do when they grow up. At about the same time Sloane started to sprout a tuft of hair that stood straight up--I called it her Sloahawk. It's one of her most distinguished features and it humors me so much. It has only gotten longer over time and I marvel that it is so perky! I get asked all the time if I style her hair--NO WAY! She's just naturally unique and hip.

Sloane: 5 Months

Oh my goodness this cute baby babe! Once she started sitting up she could amuse herself forever with toys! I love this stage--when the baby is so proud of her new skill and so content too. She topples over easily but nothing a few strategic pillows can't remedy.

Christmas Bits and Bobs

Last year I made a buche de noel and declared it a new tradition. I made not one but TWO this year because the first one flopped. Thank goodness the creamy frosting hides all the flaws of a second botched attempt. Also, it still tasted great. I love watching the kids fly from one gift to the next while pausing to really get into something--like their hex bugs. It's a day for leisure and luxury and not without a celebration of our savior and his wonderful birth and astonishing life.

Everyone's Favorite Part of Christmas: SLOANE

Children make Christmas truly magical and memorable. Having a FIVE month old baby babe and older children is the BEST of all. Sloane was just so stinking cute with her presents and just her mere existence brings out the best in her siblings. They adore her so much. She is the greatest gift to our family. Something about the way the youngest child punctuates the passage of time and the sacredness of it helps me appreciate not just her but my older children. I want to hold on to them even more. Thank you Sloane!

First Scooter Ride of Christmas

As soon as Maeve's scooter was assembled she was out the back door cruising on the deck! I LOVE her. She's so fun and grateful and doesn't let anything get in the way of her good times (rules included).

Opening Gifts

Sloane slept while the older kids tore into their presents. Initially I thought Asher was disappointed with everything but later that day he told me it was the BEST Christmas ever and he got everything he wanted. Phew. Maeve really just wanted a sled so she was easy.

Christmas Morning

The Christmas Asher and Soren were seven and Maeve was four.

Lots of presents this year! The big gift for each child was a scooter. Asher and Soren are a little behind on the scooter game but they were still excited about them. The boys got Legos, books, marble runs, gems, stuffed robots and all sorts of fun things. Maeve got playmobil sets and stuffed animals and plenty of Hello Kitty things. Sloane got a few toys. Santa was generous!

Christmas Sunday Cuties

While Asher was thrilled to hold Sloane she had that "HELP! HELP! HELP!" look!

Behold the Davis four on the Sunday before Christmas. Asher was super excited to hold sloane but went into grumpy, "I have the worst family ever" mode when she was passed to Soren. Nevertheless, I love seeing them together--all FOUR of them! Maeve and Sloane both wore sweater dresses with red tights. They looked adorable the boys looked dashing in blues and greens. Now that our family is complete, everything just feels more special with that baby babe Sloane!!
